Blown Away

Asking for money and being dependent on other's contributions are aspects of mission work and/or adoption that are tough, and frankly, just stinks. But time and time again we've been touched, humbled, and taught by the generosity of others. This is one of those times.

Our good friends, who we were blessed to serve alongside in years past, informed us that, come March, they would cover the remaining balance (currently $10,000) that is still lacking for our family vehicle.

Oh, you should have seen our faces!! Shocked! Overwhelmed! Exhilarated! "Thank you" just doesn't even begin to touch on how we have felt. Overcome with a sense of care, love, and support, and yet another reminder of our Father's desire and ability to meet our needs through His children- our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has prayed for our work, prayed for our children, contributed to our needs, and been a part of our support system during these years of ministering away from 'home'.  We earnestly desire to be good stewards of your financial support. Your lessons of love, generosity, and the importance of investing in Kingdom things continue to shape our family- and will have generational impact.  With Davenport hearts full of love and gratitude, all six of us say: Thank You.

Vehicle Fund- Update

We are so very thankful for those who have been able to give towards the vehicle! We have raised $7,000 of the needed $17,000.

Whether we are buying groceries, headed to church, traveling the 30 minutes it takes to get to Centre Marembo, or Wendy is working with various ministries, the cost of taxis is, frankly, devouring our budget. Investing in a vehicle seems to be the wisest use of money as we seek to serve here in Kigali long term. Fellow missionaries have also shared the wisdom of having a quick way out of the country in the rare circumstance that we need to leave for safety reasons or if a family member needs to go to the emergency room (911 isn’t exactly a thing here).

We are hoping to purchase a six-passenger vehicle for around $17,000. As you approach the end of the year and might be thinking about year-end giving, please keep this need in mind. If you’re willing to give towards this, tax-deductible contributions can be sent to the following address.

Our Views

Just a 5 minute walk from our home is a gorgeous view of rolling hills and gardens.  It's a great walk on the dirt path and among rows and rows of gardens.  Aiden especially loves hanging out here. It's his thinking spot.
