Closing up our first year in Rwanda

I was hoping to crank out one last newsletter prior to leaving Rwanda for the summer, but it's just not going to happen.  Here are a few updates and photos from our last few days here.  We fly out today and will return late July.  We're excited that a group of friends from San Antonio will be joining us for a visit and to participate in some of the great things God is doing here!

At the girls home that we serve alongside, we learned of a need for more beds in order to rescue more girls off the street.  The good folks over at Africa Transformation Network (thanks to Heath Amos, Caleb Beck, and their staff) helped me out and built a triple level bunk bed.  This bed is awesome!  Here are a few photos getting it to the home and setting it up.  The girls were delighted to get it.  They especially enjoyed when I couldn't get the screws aligned and tightened right but they managed to.  They proudly showed me what they accomplished with some grit and a rock.

Reason #5,000,000 to LOVE our car.  This beast of a triple level bed fit inside!  I was pretty stoked to not have to hire a truck/driver.

Sorry for the blurry photo, but we bid farewell to Emmanuel and sent him off to his village 4 hours away for the summer.  He'll return to our home for the next school year in July.  His joyful presence has been a blessing in our home.  His love for the Lord and things above has grown so much and it's beautiful to see and play a part in.

I already wrote about this on FB but we brought along 60 sandles for the girls and they dove it to choose their favorite pair.
